NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Following the Yale gymnastics team’s 187.775-179.600 home victory over Penn, two Yale gymnasts were awarded ECAC honors. Senior captain Brigitte Kivisto was named conference Gymnast of the Week and freshman Tara Feld was named conference Rookie of the week, marking the second time this season that two Yale gymnasts have earned conference awards in the same week.
Kivisto, from Boca Raton, Fla., won the all-around competition against Penn, setting a personal best with a score of 38.875. In the process, she topped her previous career best on the floor exercise, winning the event with a 9.850. Kivisto also placed second on the vault, the balance beam and the uneven parallel bars.
Feld, from Buffalo Grove, Ill., had the best meet of her short career against the Quakers, setting personal records in three events as well as the all-around competition. She opened the day by setting the school record on the vault, winning the event with a score of 9.850, but her success did not end there. The freshman followed her record-setting performance with a second-place 9.525 on the uneven parallel bars before eventually finishing third overall in the all-around competition with a score of 37.425.
