NEW HAVEN, Conn. – At the team's end-of-year banquet held last week, the Yale women's gymnastics team honored several team members for their outstanding performance over the course of the year.
Seniors Allison Mak and Brigitte Kivisto were both honored with Outstanding Senior Contribution Awards. Mak captured the ECAC Championship on the balance beam for an unprecedented second straight year. In 2009, Mak became the first gymnast in Yale history to win the event at ECAC's. Kivisto won Ivy League Classic titles in both the floor exercise and the all-around competition. She was also named the ECAC Gymnast of the Year and was the only Ivy League gymnast to qualify for NCAA Regionals. Kivisto was also awarded the Captain's Award for Outstanding Leadership.
Freshman Tara Feld was given the Outstanding Freshman Contribution Award. Feld, who competed in the all-around at every meet this season, broke the Yale vault record against Penn, scoring a 9.850.
