NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a third-place finish at Ithaca College, the Yale gymnastics team heads to Philadelphia on Saturday for a dual meet with Penn. The meet will be the Ivy League opener for both teams.
Last year, the Bulldogs split their two meets with the Quakers, winning the January dual meet but finishing behind Penn at the Ivy Classic. In the dual, Yale used a strong performance on the vault, led by Tara Feld's school-record 9.850, to set the tone early in a 187.775-179.600 win, sweeping the top three places in three out of four events. At the Ivy Classic, Penn and Yale finished third and fourth respectively, with the Quakers besting the Bulldogs by 2.050 points.
Penn, which will be competing in its third meet of the season, has produced mixed results thus far this year. After finishing seventh at the seven-team George Washington Invitational, the Quakers rebounded last weekend to place third at Rutgers. The Quakers, with a score of 188.750, fell to the host Scarlet Knights and North Carolina but defeated Ivy opponent Brown.
The competition will begin at 1 p.m. at Penn's Hutchinson Gymnasium.
