PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – One week after its best performance of the season, the Yale gymnastics team was unable to build upon its recent momentum at the Ivy Classic at the Palestra. The Bulldogs finished fourth with a score of 185.550. The home Quakers won with a score of 191.950, with Cornell and Brown finishing second and third.
Stephanie Goldstein was Yale's top performer on the vault, finishing ninth with a score of 9.475, a season high. Talis Trevino and Sherry Yang finished 12th and 14th respectively with scores of 9.400 and 9.350. Tabitha Tay and Maren Hopkins also broke 9.0, scoring a 9.225 and a 9.125.
On the uneven parallel bars, specialist Lindsay Andsager tied for third with a 9.625. Goldstein finished 14th with a 9.300, and Mia Yabut, competing on the bars for the first time in her Yale career, finished 16th with a 9.225. Trevino scored a 9.025, finishing 20th.
Nicole Tay led the Bulldogs on the balance beam, placing seventh with a 9.625. Goldstein also broke into the top ten with a score of 9.525. Hopkins finished 12th with a career-high 9.425, while Tabitha Tay scored a 9.125.
On the floor, Trevino used a career-high 9.800 to tie for third. Goldstein placed 18th with a 9.500, while Tabitha Tay scored a 9.300. Hopkins and Yang scored a 9.150 and a 9.025 respectively.
Goldstein was Yale's best finisher in the all-around competition, placing fourth behind three Penn gymnasts with a 37.800. Tabitha Tay was seventh with a 36.000.
