Bulldogs Welcome Three Freshmen

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale Gymnastics team welcomed there three new freshman this past week, with each new gymnast hailing from a different part of the country. The newcomers promise to bring enthusiasm, depth and strength to a strong group of returning upperclassmen.

Radiating with southern charm, Chloe Nelson joins the Bulldogs from Hattiesburg, Miss.  She enters Yale as a member of Morse College.  Chloe trained at Olympic Warrior Gymnastics.  During her junior and senior year of high school she represented her region at the Junior Olympic premier event, JO National Championships.

Camilla Opperman comes to Yale with great enthusiasm for the university's school and gymnastics team.  Coming from Portola Valley, Calif., Camilla joins Jonathan Edwards College.  Competing for Airborne Gymnastics Training Center, she was a top Floor Exercise finisher throughout her senior year.  As a junior in high school, she helped her region to a Western Championship team title.  Camilla holds dual citizenship in the United States and South Africa.

Brittney Sooksengdao comes to Yale from Olathe, Kan, to become the first from her family to earn a college degree.  Competing for McCracken's Gymnastics, Brittney was one of a select few to qualify for the prestigious Nastia Liukin Cup in 2011.  She finished her senior year as Kansas State Champion on 3 events and in the all-around.  She joins four of her teammates as a member of Berkeley College.
