NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Camilla Opperman has been honored with the ECAC Coaches' Choice Award for her performance in last weekend's Bulldog Invitational.
The Coaches' Choice typically goes to an athlete who has overcome serious obstacles to perform at a high level. Opperman certainly fits those criteria. She sat out her entire freshman season with a serious elbow injury that prevented her from competing. Despite this setback, Opperman was praised by her teammates for the positive attitude that she brought to the team, despite being unable to participate in competition.
Opperman made her debut for the Bulldogs this season and showed how far she has come in the Bulldog Invitational. She was Yale's highest scorer on the floor exercise with a 9.675 that was good for sixth place overall. She also made her Yale debut on the vault and scored a 9.200.
