Gymnasts Fourth at Penn State Meet

UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. – The Yale gymnastics team finished fourth on Friday evening in a quad-meet against Bridgeport, Penn State and Western Michigan.  The Bulldogs totaled 188.525 points, behind Penn State with 196.600 points, Western Michigan with 193.625 and Bridgeport with 193.500.

On vault, Camilla Opperman had Yale's top score, putting up a 9.700 to finish tied for ninth.  Morgan Traina was 17th with a 9.525 with Joyce Li right behind in 18th with 9.500.

On the uneven parallel bars, Traina finished 12th with a 9.700.  Brianna Chrisman was next for the Bulldogs, posting a 9.500 to place 18thAshley O'Connor had Yale's next highest score, a 9.450 to finish 20th.

Traina also had Yale's top score on the balance beam, finishing 11th with a 9.675.  Nicole Tay and Tatiana Winkelman tied for 17th with matching 9.500s.

On the floor exercise, Opperman continued her string of strong performances, score a 9.625 to finish tied for 13th place.  Traina was right behind her in 16th place with a 9.550.   Katherine Lucas was 17th with a 9.400.

Traina finished fifth in the all-around with a 38.450.

Yale is back in action next Saturday when they travel to Rutgers to face the Scarlet Knights as well as Central Michigan, SCSU and Temple.  That meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
