NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Following the completion of the team season at last weekend's ECAC championships, a number of Yale gymnasts have qualified individually for two prestigious post-season meets. Seven gymnasts qualified to compete at the USAG Collegiate Nationals and junior Morgan Traina qualified as an alternate for the NCAA Championship.
The 2014 USAG Collegiate National Championships are hosted by Brown University will take place on April 11, 12 and 13. Seven Bulldogs qualified based on their performances this season. Traina and fellow junior Joyce Li both qualified for the all-around competition. Sophomore Camilla Opperman qualified for both the floor exercise and the vault. Junior Brianna Chrisman, senior Ashley O'Connor and senior Nicole Tay qualified for the uneven parallel bars and sophomore Brittney Sooksengdao qualified on the balance beam.
The 2014 NCAA Regional Championship meet will be hosted by Penn State and takes place on April 5. The Regional Championships are qualifying meets for the NCAA National Championships, which take place in Alabama on April 18, 19 and 20. Traina has qualified for the Regional meet as an alternate.
