Yale Takes Fourth in Fox Run Invitational

DURHAM, N. H. - Yale placed fourth at the Fox Run Invitational, with a score of 157.500. Due to illnesses and injuries, the Bulldogs only competed four routines on three events. Normally, each team is allowed six routines, and the best five on every event count towards the overall score. The home team, UNH, won the competition with a 194.875 and swept the podium in each of the individual events. Bridgeport (189.400) and the Air Force (187.800) took second and third, respectively. Alina Liao won the all-around competition with a 38.725.

On vault, Yale only had three of its regular line-up. Sarah Hughes made her collegiate debut in the event, scoring an 8.3. Mak earned a 9.45 and Liao a 9.525. Lauren Tatsuno scored a 9.6 for eighth place.

Bars was the only event in which the Bulldogs had five competitors. Hughes scored an 8.05. Freshman Margaret Greenberg scored an 8.65, followed by classmate Claude de Jocas with an 8.85. Mak had a career high 9.45. Liao's 9.675 placed sixth.

Hughes also made her collegiate debut on beam, scoring an 8.975. Mak followed with a 9.25. Liao and Tatsuno followed with beautiful routines, earning a 9.725 and 9.75, respectively. Tatsuno tied for third place and Liao earned fifth place.

Yale had an excellent showing on floor. Mak led off with a 9.4, and Hughes added a 9.35. Tatsuno ended her stellar day with a 9.725, which earned her ninth place. Liao also closed off the meet with a powerful routine, scoring a 9.8 and placing fourth.

Liao's winning all-around score was a career high for her. Mak also had a career high, 37.55. Hughes totaled a 34.675.

Next week, the Bulldogs will be competing against Southern Connecticut at home. Competition starts in the John J. Lee Amphitheater at 1:00pm.
