Bulldogs Finish Third at Towson Invitational

Towson, MD - The women's gymnastics team finished in third place at the Towson Invitation on Saturday. Towson won first place in the team competition with a 191.625, William and Mary came in second with a score of 187.85, Yale finished third with 187.4 and James Madison scored a 183.675 for fourth place.

 

ECAC Athlete of the Week and Ivy League All-Around champion Anne McPherson once again put in a solid performance in the individual all around competition. She scored a 37.825 for a strong third place all around finish.

 

Although the judges' scoring was very low in general, the Elis pushed through to a first place team showing on the beam, with a combined score of 47.2. McPherson tied for third place on beam with a 9.55. Suchitra Paul also performed well on the event, getting high marks of 9.525.

 

The Eli's were ranked third as a team on floor, bars and vault. Miki Seltzer led the team on the vault with a 9.4. On floor, Kathryn Fong received an outstanding 9.575, and Christine Lacy and McPherson both put in solid 9.5 performances.

 

Once again, Fong put in an excellent bars routine, breezing by the competition with a 9.775. McPherson, who received a 9.425, had the team's second best showing on bars.

 

The Bulldogs will travel to Washington DC on Sat., March 12 for the Colonial Classic.
