NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This Saturday, Jan. 26, Yale will be battling the University of Pennsylvania Quakers at home. It will be the second home meet for the Bulldogs, as well as the Ivy opener for both teams.
Yale is coming off of a home win in a tri-meet against SCSU and Bridgeport with a team score of 187.7, which is slightly higher than Penn has scored thus far this season. Penn is currently 0-2, falling at home to Towson and Rutgers. When the two teams met last year at Hutchinson Gym, Penn won the meet 187.05-183.95.
Close match-ups are expected, between both the teams and individuals. Penn sophomore Marissa Rosen is a force to be reckoned with in the all-around, which she won last year at the dual meet. However, Yale has several strong all-around competitors in sophomore Brigitte Kivisto, junior Alina Liao, and senior Kristen Campbell. Rosen was the 2007 Ivy Classic beam champion, Yale's best event. The Bulldogs have a handful of impressive routines on beam, including sophomore Allison Mak who has won the event in the past two meets. On vault, Lauren Tatsuno will take on Penn's Jordan Brewer, who has been leading her team on the event.
Competition begins at 1pm in the John J. Lee Amphitheater.
