Bulldogs Travel to Rutgers
Feb. 5, 2009
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - This Saturday, Feb. 7, Yale heads to Piscataway, N.J. for a tri-meet at Rutgers with the University of Pittsburgh. Rutgers and Pittsburgh are EAGL rivals. The Bulldogs, in the ECAC, fell to Bridgeport at home last weekend, 186.900-184.125. The Scarlett Knights are coming off of a 4th place finish at WVU, where they posted a team score of 187.950. The Panthers defeated NC State, 195.300-194.450.
Last season, Yale narrowly lost the dual meet with Rutgers, 188.250 to 188.200. The season before, the two teams faced each other four times and Rutgers won three of those meetings. Yale last competed against Pitt in February 2007, during a quad meet with Rutgers and Brockport. At that competition, Pitt came out on top, followed by Rutgers and then Yale.
The Bulldogs have been experiencing troubles with consistency, falling several times on bars, beam, and floor in the last few weeks. Beam, traditionally Yale's strongest event, has been the locale of four falls in each of the past two weekends. However, the team is slowly improving on bars and floor, gaining back difficult skills that were put aside due to illness or injury last month.
Competition begins at 12 p.m. in the Livingston Recreation Center.
