NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior Brigitte Kivisto has earned two well-deserved ECAC Awards for the past two weekends. Competing on beam and floor, she scored above a 9.6 on all four routines, which led to her nominations of Specialist of the Week and Coach's Choice.
In a tri-meet against Bridgeport and UNH two weeks ago, Kivisto stepped up to fill the team's line-ups on both events, despite experiencing back spasms. She scored a 9.6 on beam for third place and won floor with a 9.65. Without her, the team would've had to count two 0's in the final score. At home against Bridgeport last weekend, she scored a 9.625 on beam and a 9.775, placing second on both events.
Kivisto competed in the all-around last season, and hopefully will be able to compete all four events by the end of the season.
The Bulldogs' next competition is this Saturday, Feb. 7, at Rutgers with Pittsburgh. Competition starts at 12 p.m.
