Kivisto Wins ECAC Coaches' Choice Award

Feb. 8, 2007

Freshman Brigitte Kivisto won the ECAC's Coaches Choice Award after her all-around performance at Rutgers in a quad meet on Feb. 3. She helped the team to a 3rd place finish after Pittsburgh and Rutgers, who both offer gymnastics scholarships.

Kivisto turned in scores of 8.95 on bars, 8.9 on beam, and a pair of 9.4s on vault and floor. Her all-around score of 36.65 was a season high.

This is the second time that Kivisto has been honored by the conference. Less than a month ago, she was voted Rookie of the Week. That same week, fellow freshman Allison Mak and senior Miki Seltzer also won awards. The Bulldogs snapped up three of the four awards that the ECAC distributes weekly.

This Saturday, Feb. 10, is Yale's first home meet. Competition starts at 1pm in the John J. Lee Amphitheater against Southern Connecticut.
