Elis Prepare for ECAC Championships

March 23, 2005

The Bulldogs travel to Harrisonburg, Va., on Saturday for the 2005 ECAC Division I Women's Gymnastics Championship at James Madison University. The Elis, this year's Ivy Classic Champions, know what to expect from the competition, having already competed against all but one of the ECAC's eight other teams.

Yale topped Ivy foes Brown, Cornell, and Pennsylvania at the Ivy Classic on February 26 and have since outperformed James Madison and William & Mary. Towson, the only conference opponent to edge the Bulldogs this year, did so at home on March 5 by one-tenth of a point.

The Elis will try to improve on last year's fourth place finish at the event and have the gymnasts to do it. Ivy Classic All-Around champion Anne McPherson leads the Bulldogs along with 2003 ECAC All-Around champion Kathryn Fong. Additionally, two other Elis have made names for themselves at past ECAC Championships.

Sophomore Suchitra Paul was the floor champion at the 2004 ECAC Championship and captain Christine Lacy won the vault competition in 2002.
