Bulldogs Win Academic Awards

April 18, 2007

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Bulldog gymnasts have been hitting the books as hard as they've been hitting springboards. At the annual ECAC Division I Women's Gymnastics Awards Banquet on Friday, Mar. 30, thirteen Bulldogs were announced to be ECAC Scholar Athletes, the most out of any team in the conference. Honorees included seniors Jessica Blick, Suchitra Paul, Sarah Peterson, Miki Seltzer, and Jessica Tai; juniors Kristen Campbell, Cynthia Leung, Laura Lombardi, and Katherine Yao; sophomores Sarah Hughes, Alina Liao and Lauren Tatsuno; and freshman Allison Mak.

In addition, Seltzer was one of Yale's ten winter sport Academic All-Ivy honorees. The league chooses five women and five men who are key players on their respective teams and have at least a 3.0 GPA.

Last year, Yale had fourteen ECAC Scholar Athletes who received a 3.2 GPA or higher. Also, the team had eight All-American Scholar Athletes, with a 3.5 and up. Yale had the highest average GPA in the Ivy League, and 4th overall in the nation.
