Martini Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week
Scored Three Goals, Leads Team in Scoring
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale freshman defenseman Kate Martini (King City, Ont.) has been named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Martini had three goals last week, including one in each game.
With the three goals, Martini now leads Yale in scoring for the year (6-9-15). She is second on the team in assists and tied for second on the team in goals.
Martini has a four-game point scoring streak, helping the Bulldogs earn a pair of ties in ECAC Hockey play that have kept them in contention for the league's eighth and final playoff spot with three games remaining.
Prior to Yale, Martini attended Country Day School and played for the Toronto Aeros. Her brother Robert was captain of the Niagara ice hockey team and graduated last year.
Martini is the second Bulldog to earn ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week this year, joining freshman forward Jamie Haddad (Wilbraham, Mass.).
Yale hosts Quinnipiac and Princeton at Ingalls Rink this weekend.
