Saints Skate Past Bulldogs 4-1
Martini Scores Yale Goal
CANTON, N.Y. – Four different players scored for St. Lawrence as the Saints handed the Yale women's ice hockey team a 4-1 loss Friday night at Appleton Arena. Junior goaltender Jaimie Leonoff made 36 saves for Yale, and sophomore defenseman Kate Martini scored the Bulldogs' lone goal.
St. Lawrence (3-6-0, 2-1-1 ECAC Hockey) got one goal in each of the first two periods, as forwards Rylee Smith and Jessica Hon tallied. Smith's goal came on a power play; the Bulldogs killed off their other five penalties, but were 0-for-4 with the man advantage themselves.
A goal by defenseman Kirsten Padalis at 16:20 of the third extended the Saints' lead. Martini answered two minutes later, assisted by sophomore forward Hanna Åström and Jamie Haddad, but the Saints tacked on one more (by forward Ellie Williams) with 21 seconds to play.
Carmen MacDonald made 24 saves for St. Lawrence.
Yale (0-3-0, 0-1-0 ECAC Hockey) visits No. 5 Clarkson Saturday afternoon.
