NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Freshman forward Crysti Howser (Wilmette, Ill.) has been named ECACHL Rookie of the Week after picking up seven points in three games. Howser, who is currently tied for second in the conference in points per game (1.50), helped the Bulldogs to a 2-0-1 record with three goals and four assists.
Howser's week started with an assist in Yale's 3-2 win at BC last Monday. She followed that up with four points in Yale's 5-5 overtime tie with Princeton Friday night, including two goals and two assists. She then tacked on another assist and a memorable 1-on-4 goal against Northeastern Saturday in a 3-0 win. Overall she had a +3 rating and won 48 of 68 faceoffs.
Howser missed the first seven games of this season while playing soccer, but has quickly moved into a tie for second on the team in points (5-7-12 in eight games). She was first team All-Ivy and the Ivy League Rookie of the Year in soccer, and won the Ivy League's Rookie of the Week Award three times in that sport.
Yale travels to No. 3 St. Lawrence Friday and then to No. 9 Clarkson Saturday.
