NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After leading Yale to a historic weekend at Dartmouth and Harvard, senior Sarah Love (Bayfield, Ont.) has been selected as ECACHL Goaltender of the Week. Love's 33-save shutout at Dartmouth Friday night helped the Bulldogs beat the Big Green for the first time in 20 years, 1-0. On Saturday she stopped 40 shots for a 1-1 overtime tie at No. 7 Harvard, snapping a 25-year old string of 23 straight Crimson wins at the Bright Center in the series.
The win at Dartmouth snapped a 41-game Big Green winning streak against Yale, and was also Yale's first victory at Thompson Arena, where Dartmouth has played for 29 years.
Love, who was selected along with Harvard goaltender Brittany Martin, has stopped 96 of the last 97 shots she has faced and has not allowed an even-strength goal in her last 183:30 in net.
Already the holder of the school single-season records for wins (14 in 2005-06), save percentage (.931 in 2003-04) and goals-against average (2.25 in 2003-04), Love is closing in on several career marks. Her current career save percentage (.915) would break Laurie Belliveau's school record (.911), and her current career GAA (2.69) is well below the Yale record (Tiffany Bingham, 3.25).
Additionally, Love is second all-time at Yale in saves (2,912 to Belliveau's 4,259). Her current season GAA (2.39) and save percentage (.923) would be tied for second best for a single season by a Bulldog.
