Princeton and Quinnipiac Visit for Alumnae Weekend, Pink at the Rink

Feb. 7, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - A month ago, the Bulldogs had their best offensive weekend of the season when they scored 10 goals in a road sweep of Princeton and Quinnipiac. They will look to repeat that success against those same two teams at Ingalls Rink this weekend, as the Tigers (Friday, 7:00 p.m., Yale All*Access free video) and the Bobcats (Saturday, 4:00 p.m., Yale All*Access free video and WYBC 1340 AM) visit for Alumnae Weekend. Both games are also part of ECAC Hockey's "Pink at the Rink", so Yale will be wearing pink uniforms that will be auctioned on-line to benefit cancer research.

The Bulldogs (9-9-5, 6-7-3 ECAC Hockey, t-7th) picked up one point last weekend on the always-tough Dartmouth-Harvard road trip. Yale rallied from a 3-1 deficit in the third period to tie the Big Green at three Friday. Junior forward Crysti Howser (Wilmette, Ill.) had a hand in all three Yale goals, scoring one and assisting on two. Freshman goaltender Jackee Snikeris (Downingtown, Pa.) made 31 saves. The Bulldogs were then blanked 3-0 Saturday by No. 1 Harvard. Senior goaltender Shivon Zilis (Markham, Ont.) made 30 saves.

Princeton (11-8-4, 9-6-1 ECAC Hockey, 5th) has won four in a row since losing to the Bulldogs and has outscored its opponents 19-5 in that span. The Tigers are just one point behind Clarkson and Dartmouth for the fourth and final home ice spot in the ECAC Hockey standings. Marykate Oakley leads the team in scoring (8-19-27), and goaltender Kristen Young has a .913 save percentage and 1.89 goals-against average.

Quinnipiac (4-20-4, 1-12-3 ECAC Hockey, 11th) snapped a seven-game losing streak last weekend with a 2-1 win over Union. The Bobcats' leading scorer is Elyse Cole (11-6-17). A trio of freshmen have seen time in goal, with the majority of the playing time going to Jamie Miller (.888, 3.39).

Saturday features a post-game reception for all Yale women's hockey alumnae.

Admission to both games is free. Donations for cancer research will be accepted. Pink t-shirts and rubber pink bracelets will also be on sale at Ingalls Rink. Bidding for the game-worn pink jerseys will take place on-line from Feb. 8 to 17 at
