Summer Camp: Bulldogs Busy on National Team Scene

Three Yale women's hockey players -- junior goalie Sarah Love (Bayfield, ONT), freshman defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, CT) and sophomore forward Kristin Savard (Framingham, MA) -- ended their summers in national U22 team camps. Resor and Savard were part of the USA Hockey Festival in Lake Placid, NY, while Love took part in Team Canada's development camp in Waterloo, ONT August 15-22. Following the camps, Resor was named to Team USA and is now playing in a three-game series against Team Canada in Lake Placid, NY and Burlington, VT. Love, 20, had a school-record .931 save percentage last season, breaking Laurie Belliveau's mark of .923 set in 1997-98. She ranked first in the ECAC and fifth nationally. Love also set the school mark for goals-against average (2.25), besting Tiffany Bingham's 2.39 from 1987-88. She was named first team All-Ivy and second team All-ECAC. She also was named to the New England Hockey Writers Association Division I All-Star team. Resor, 18, is the cousin of sophomore defenseman Nina Resor (Westwood, MA). She led Noble & Greenough School to a 25-0-3 record and a New England Division I Championship last season. Her sister Jane played for Yale as well, graduating in 2001. Savard, 19, led Yale in points (22) and goals (14, including 4 game-winners). She was a three-time winner of the ECAC Rookie of the Week award and was named to the conference's All-Rookie team. The Bulldogs open their season on Saturday, October 30 at Quinnipiac. report by Sam Rubin '95, Yale Sports Publicity Department
