NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sophomore defenseman Helen Resor (Greenwich, Conn.) has been named preseason All-ECACHL. Resor, who is returning to Yale after playing for Team USA in the Olympics last year, was selected in both the coaches' poll and the media poll. The Bulldogs as a team were picked for sixth in the media poll and seventh in the coaches' poll.
While earning a bronze medal with Team USA in Torino, Resor had two assists and tied Jenny Potter for the best +/- rating on the team (+10). During the 2004-05 season with Yale she scored seven goals and added 11 assists despite missing the first eight games of the season with an injury. Resor was a key part of Yale's historic run to the conference semifinals that year, the first time in school history the Bulldogs advanced that far in the postseason.
In addition to Resor, Yale returns 10 of its top 11 scorers from last season. The Bulldogs start their season with a scrimmage against Princeton on Oct. 14 at Ingalls Rink.
Dartmouth (picked for first by the coaches) and Harvard (picked for first by the media) each have Olympians returning to their squads this season too. Five of them (Harvard's Caitlin Cahow, Julie Chu and Sarah Vaillancourt; Dartmouth's Gillian Apps and Katie Weatherston) were named to the coaches' preseason all-league team.
The ECAC Hockey League has expanded to 12 teams on the women's side this year with the addition of Rensselaer. The ECAC women's league now matches the ECAC men's league team-for-team.
