Senior Captain Recognized by League's Coaches

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior attacker Caroline Crow (Davidsonville, Md.), the Yale women's lacrosse team captain, was honored by the Ivy League on Tuesday as the league announced its annual awards. Crow was named second team All-Ivy League (note: the league initially announced Crow as an honorable mention selection, but following a recount she was named a second team selection).

This is the first All-Ivy recognition for Crow, who enjoyed the best season of her career. As the lone senior on Yale's attack, she led the team in goals (35), assists (14) and points (49) this year -- all more than double her previous single-season highs. She had 17 of those goals in Ivy League games, tying for sixth in the conference. That included five goals against both Columbia and Brown and three against Princeton. She had at least one goal in every league game.

Crow shot .467 overall and .447 in league games, second-best on the team. She ended the season with a 13-game point scoring streak, and had seven hat tricks (three in league games).

Earlier this week Crow received Yale's Bowditch Award as the team's most valuable player. All year long she provided a veteran presence on Yale's attack, helping to bring together a group that featured just one other upperclassman. All told, the Bulldogs had 19 freshmen and sophomores on the 24-person roster. They finished with 137 goals, their most since 2008 and a 65 percent increase over the previous season's total. They more than doubled their goal total in Ivy games from the previous year (54 to 26), and ended with wins in their final two league games.

Due to various injuries, Crow had been limited to no more than 11 games in each of her first three years. She still leaves with an All-Ivy honor and three of the team's most significant recognitions. In addition to being captain and earning the Bowditch Award and honorable mention All-Ivy this season, as a sophomore she earned the team's Most Improved Player Award after battling back from injury.

Crow is a history major in Jonathan Edwards College. Prior to Yale she attended Severn.

The All-Ivy League team is determined by a vote of the league's eight head coaches.
