Yale Extends Perfect Start to Five Games with 15-8 Win vs. Quinnipiac
The best start to a season in 13 years continued for the Yale women’s lacrosse season on Friday, as the Bulldogs bested Quinnipiac 15-8 at Reese Stadium to improve to 5-0. The last time Yale won its first five games was 2001, when the team started 8-0.

Total Mortgage Spotlight Athlete of the Week: Nicole Daniggelis
Nicole Daniggelis and the women’s lacrosse team are off to hot start to open up the 2014 season. Daniggelis picked up right where she left off last season and earned herself Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors on Monday. This sophomore attacker from St. James, N.Y. is this week’s Total Mortgage Spotlight Athlete of the Week.

Perfect Start to Season Intact After 12-8 Win vs. Bryant
The Yale women’s lacrosse team has only been playing Bryant for three years, but the series has already had some memorable games. After winning by one goal in each of the first two meetings, Yale found itself locked in another battle with Bryant on Wednesday afternoon at Reese Stadium. The game ultimately hinged on a free position goal by freshman attacker Tess McEvoy with 9:07 to play that broke an 8-8 tie -- the fourth tie of the game. Yale then scored three goals in the final minutes to put away a 12-8 victory that keeps the team’s record perfect, 4-0, to start the season.

Two Home Games in Three Days for Bulldogs
Off to its best start in 13 years, the Yale women’s lacrosse team hosts a pair of games at Reese Stadium this week. Bryant visits on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. and local rival Quinnipiac comes in on Friday at 4:00 p.m.

Daniggelis, McMullan Earn Weekly Awards from Ivy League
Yale sophomore attacker Nicole Daniggelis (St. James, N.Y.) and senior goalkeeper Erin McMullan (Wading River, N.Y.) were both honored by the Ivy League on Monday for their roles in helping the Yale women’s lacrosse win a pair of games last week. Daniggelis was named Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week and McMullan earned Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.

Second-Half Surge Earns Yale a 12-5 Win at Dartmouth in Ivy Opener
The Yale women’s lacrosse team followed a simple formula for victory Saturday afternoon at Scully Fahey field in the Ivy League opener vs. Dartmouth: score goals and win draw controls. The Bulldogs’ offensive and defensive effectiveness, combined with a 15-5 edge on the draw, added up to a 12-5 win over the Big Green -- Yale’s first win vs. Dartmouth since 2008.

Eight Points, 14 Draw Controls for Daniggelis as Yale Wins 16-5 at SHU
Bitterly cold temperatures at Campus Field did little to slow down the Yale women’s lacrosse team Wednesday afternoon at Sacred Heart, as eight different players scored goals and the Bulldogs came away with a 16-5 win. Sophomore attacker Nicole Daniggelis led the way for Yale with eight points, including six goals and two assists. She also finished with 14 draw controls -- one shy of her own Ivy League single-game record -- as the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 on the season.

Road Trips to Sacred Heart, Dartmouth up Next for Yale this Week
The Yale women’s lacrosse team ended its season opener Saturday at Reese Stadium on a high note, outscoring Holy Cross 7-1 in the second half for a 10-8 win. The Bulldogs look to continue that momentum into two road games this week, making the short trip down I-95 to play at Sacred Heart Wednesday (4:00 p.m.) and then heading up to Dartmouth for the Ivy League opener Saturday (Noon).

McMullan Named Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Yale senior goalkeeper Erin McMullan (Wading River, N.Y.) was named Ivy League Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after helping the Bulldogs to a season-opening 10-8 win vs. Holy Cross Saturday at Reese Stadium.

Second-Half Shutdown Earns Yale a 10-8 Win vs. Holy Cross in Opener
The Yale women's lacrosse team limited Holy Cross to one goal in the second half Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium, rallying for a 10-8 win. Senior midfielder Julie Mongan scored the go-ahead goal at 18:31 of the second. A full recap will be posted on yalebulldogs.com shortly.

Season Opener Saturday Morning vs. Holy Cross
The Yale women’s lacrosse team opens the 2014 season Saturday morning, hosting Holy Cross at Reese Stadium at 11:30 a.m. in the first of 10 regular season home games. The Crusaders were picked to finished fourth in the Patriot League preseason poll.

Season Outlook: Bulldogs Look to Continue Improving in 2014
The Yale women’s lacrosse team showed many signs of progress in 2013, as the Bulldogs posted their best win total in five years and increased their goals scored compared to the previous season by a whopping 23 percent. Yale also had its lowest goals-allowed total since 2010. All but two players from that team are back for 2014, and with the addition of 10 freshmen Yale figures to have the talent and depth to make even more improvements in 2014. The roster includes 11 players who made 11 or more starts last season, and nine seniors looking to end their careers on a high note.

Three Nationally Ranked Teams on 2014 Schedule
Three games against teams that were nationally ranked in the preseason poll, and four against teams that made last year's NCAA Tournament, highlight the 2014 Yale women's lacrosse schedule. The 15-game slate includes seven Ivy League games and eight non-league games. This also marks the fifth year for the Ivy League women's lacrosse tournament, in which the top four teams in the final Ivy standings play for the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Class of 2017 Looks to Make Immediate Contributions
Looking to continue the momentum of last season, when the Bulldogs posted their best win total in five years, the Yale women’s lacrosse team welcomes 10 freshmen to the roster for the 2014 season. The Class of 2017 represents seven different states. The group is composed of three attackers, three defenders, three midfielders and one midfielder/defender.

Ashley Casiano Joins Yale Staff
Ashley Casiano, a two-time all-conference goaltender for Marist who helped the Red Foxes to the NCAA Tournament in 2010, has joined the Yale women's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach. She joins returning assistant coach Tanya Kotowicz to form the staff under Anne Phillips, Yale’s Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of Women’s Lacrosse.

Bulldogs Make Impact at World Cup
Yale was well-represented at the recent Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s Lacrosse World Cup. The United States won the World Cup, and Anne Phillips -- Yale’s Joel E. Smilow, Class of 1954 Head Coach of Women’s Lacrosse -- oversaw the selection of the U.S. roster. Phillips has been U.S. National Team Selection Chair since 2008. Additionally, two former Yale players -- attacker Jenna Block ‘10 and midfielder Sara Greenberg ’09 -- played for Israel, which finished eighth. Yale assistant coach Tanya Kotowicz was an alternate for Germany, which finished 12th.

Yale Well-Represented at Upcoming World Cup
Yale will be well-represented at the upcoming Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women’s Lacrosse World Cup. Two former players -- attacker Jenna Block ‘10 and midfielder Sara Greenberg ’09 -- will be playing for Israel. Additionally, assistant coach Tanya Kotowicz is an alternate for Germany. The World Cup, which features 19 teams, will be held at the Oshawa Civic Recreation Centre near Toronto, Canada, from July 11-20.
