No. 7 Bulldogs Eliminated Without Sailing

Lack of Wind Forces Cancellation of Semifinals

MADISON, Wisc.—The No. 7 Bulldogs came to Wisconsin with the hopes of making a run at a repeat championship but Mother Nature was clearly not on the same plan. With no wind on either of the semifinals days, the semifinals were cancelled which meant that nationals qualifying reverted to the old format, putting the Bulldogs on the outside looking in.

At 9:00 a.m. there was a tiny bit of breeze that slowly disappeared, leaving A division floating around on the water, only to be towed in after no races. The rest of the day was spent trying to avoid the heat, watching the water go from glass to glassier. At 5:45 p.m., storms rolled in and the regatta was officially cancelled, leaving the Bulldogs extremely frustrated that they did not even get the chance to sail.

While the end of the season left an extremely bitter taste in the Bulldogs' mouths, the season had some positive moments. The Bulldogs won two large intersectionals in the fall, as well as finishing third at the Atlantic Coast Championships. This spring the Bulldogs collected numerous awards at the New England Championships.

Many of the women's team will be staying for the rest of nationals, contributing to the co-ed team's effort to bring home a national title.
