NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The No. 1 Yale women's sailing team will attempt to keep its winning streak alive at the Charleston Women's Inter-conference Regatta this weekend. The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back victories at the past two regattas. After this weekend they will return to New Haven from spring break and commence their daily practice routine out of the McNay Family Sailing Center.
Racing in Charleston will take place on the Cooper River which is famous for its strong current. The College of Charleston Cougars are hosting the event and will provide a fleet of 420s and a fleet of FJs, allowing for both A and B division to race simultaneously.
Although it will be a smaller fleet than usual, six of the top 10 nationally ranked teams will be in attendance.
To confront the competition, the Bulldogs are sending Junior skipper Morgan Kiss and senior crew Amanda Salvesen who have won their division at every regatta so far this season. They will compete in A division after winning B division by 58 points at the St. Mary's Women's Inter-conference Regatta last weekend.
In B division, the Bulldogs will sail sophomore skipper Marly Isler and freshman crew Clara Robertson. Isler and Robertson had a strong finish to the fall season together and started the spring with a top-five finish at the coed Eckerd Inter-conference Regatta.
