NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's sailing team had challenging times this weekend on the Charles, finishing seventh at the Toni Deutsch Trophy at MIT. On Saturday, a very light northerly gave way to a seabreeze of 5-7 knots with long and oscillating shifts. Similar conditions prevailed on Sunday.
15 races were completed in each division in Fireflies and FJs. The Bulldogs struggled to find consistency, but were able to pull off several top three finishes. In A division sophomore skipper Louisa Nordstrom competed with senior crew Caroline Colwell. In B division, sophomore skipper Chrissie Klingler competed with freshman crew Cate Mollerus. Mollerus comments, "It was light and shifty all weekend so it was hard to be consistent. Several races had to be called off due to lack of wind."
With only one weekend down, there is still much racing to go. Next weekend the Bulldogs will compete at the Stu Nelson, an intersectional held at Connecticut College.
