NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Jane Macky and junior Marla Menninger have both been named the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association Women's Sailors of the Week for their strong performance last weekend at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championships. Recognition of this sort is nothing new to the duo, both of whom were All New-England and ICSA All-American sailors last year.
Macky and Menninger led the Bulldogs at the Women's Atlantic Coast Championships by winning A Division with 59 points over 12 races. The duo performed extremely well in the tough conditions that ranged from full-on hiking in very windy weather to light air on the same leg of the same race. Over the course of the weekend, Macky and Menninger won three races and placed in the top five in eight of the 12 races, an incredible display of consistency. Their strong performance helped lead the Bulldogs to a third-place finish overall in the regatta.
This is the second Sailor of the Week honor this year for the Bulldogs. Earlier in the season, junior Sarah Lihan and sophomore Tatyana Camejo received the same honor for taking second in B Division at two one-day events.
