Freshman Jenny Butwin Scores Twice To Lead Rout
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - After nearly a week of intense practices, the Yale women's soccer team finally got the opportunity to test itself against an opponent on Wednesday afternoon. Jenny Butwin scored twice and Mary Kubiuk and Becky Brown added one goal each as the Bulldogs cruised to a 4-0 victory over McGill in an exhibition game at Reese Stadium.
Goalkeepers Ayana Sumiyasu, Adelaide Gay and Adele Jackson-Gibson all saw action and combined on the shutout.
"I was very pleased. It was a total team effort," said Yale head coach Rudy Meredith. "All 21 players had a key part in the victory."
The regular season opener is still a week away. The Bulldogs host Wagner on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.
