Three Bulldogs Selected To New England Senior Bowl
Sumiyasu, Ashforth And Brown Earn All-New England Honors
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three Yale women's soccer players have been selected to participate in the annual New England Division I Senior Bowl. Goalkeeper Ayana Sumiyasu, midfielder Megan Ashforth and forward Becky Brown will represent the Bulldogs. The game is Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Merrimack College.
Sumiyasu, a first team All-Ivy selection, led the Ivy League with 77 saves. She started 16 games and had a 1.16 goals against average with an .811 save percentage. In the Bulldogs' upset of 16th-ranked Penn State, she made four saves to post the first of her two shutouts.
Ashforth was limited to 11 games because of an injury. She finished with three points (1 goal, 1 assist).
Brown, a first team All-Ivy selection, led Yale with six assists and 14 points. She finished her outstanding career with 29 goals, the fifth most in school history, 23 assists, which is second all-time, and 81 points, the third most in Yale history.
