Goalkeeper Earned A Pair Of Victories

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Goalkeeper Elise Wilcox, who earned a pair of victories last week, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She shared the honor with Harvard's Bethany Kanten, who also won twice.

Wilcox has taken over as the Bulldogs' starting goalkeeper after Adele Jackson-Gibson suffered a season-ending injury. Wilcox has responded in a big way. In her first career start last Tuesday against Fairfield, she made five saves to post the shutout in Yale's 3-0 victory. Then against Cornell on Saturday, she stopped two shots as the Bulldogs earned a much-needed 2-1 overtime victory. The win helped Yale keep pace with Penn in second place in the Ivy League. Both the Quakers and Bulldogs trail first-place Harvard by one point. Yale and Penn meet Saturday in Philadelphia.

Wilcox is the third Yale player to earn Ivy Rookie of the Week honors, joining Meredith Speck (Sept. 5) and Melissa Gavin (Oct. 10).
