Honored Second Time This Season
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Melissa Gavin, who scored and added three assists in two games last week, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
In Sunday's 2-2 tie with Columbia, Gavin scored Yale's first goal on a shot from 15 yards out and then set up the game-tying goal with a nifty drop pass to Enma Mullo, who scored with less than eight minutes to play in regulation. Earlier in the week, Gavin had a pair of assists in the Bulldogs' 4-0 victory over Saint Peter's.
Gavin has started all 16 games for Yale and leads the team with six assists. She also has six goals and 18 points.
It is the second time this season she has been honored. She also was selected on Oct. 10 after scoring and adding an assist in the victory over Dartmouth.
The Bulldogs play their final game of the season on Saturday, hosting Brown at 3 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
