Meredith Back With U-23 National Team For Training Camp
Last June, Yale women’s soccer coach Rudy Meredith helped the U.S. Under-23 Women’s National team capture a Three Nations Tournament in Stjordalen, Norway. Apparently the powers that be at U.S. Soccer were impressed with his work as an assistant coach.

McSweeney Elected 2013 Yale Captain
Shannon McSweeney, who has helped anchor a potent defense throughout her time at Yale, has been elected captain of the 2013 Yale women’s soccer team. The announcement was made following a team vote.

Pair Of Bulldogs Earn All-Ivy Recognition
A pair of seniors on the Yale women’s soccer team have earned All-Ivy recognition. Midfielder Kristen Forster, who led the team in scoring with seven goals and 17 points, was named to the first team, while Torrey Leroy, who anchored a stingy Yale defense, earned second team recognition.

Senior Day Success: Bulldogs Blank Brown 1-0
Over the last four years, when Mary Kubiuk has scored, the result has usually been favorable for the Yale women’s soccer team. So perhaps it was only fitting that in the final game of her career, Kubiuk played a key role in sending the Class of 2013 off with a victory.

National Television Audience Watches Yale Play 1-1 Tie With Brown
Trailing Brown 1-0 at halftime on Thursday night, Yale head coach Rudy Meredith told a national television audience watching on the Fox Soccer Channel that he was putting an “all points bulletin” out for his team’s offense. Apparently it was located. The Bulldogs scored twice in the second half and had a big edge in play. Brown, though, took advantage of one opportunity and Yale was forced to settle for a 2-2 tie on a chilly night at Stevenson Field.

National Television, Senior Day On Tap In Home And Home With Brown
The Yale women’s soccer team closes out the season with a rare home-and-home with Brown. The two teams will meet in Providence on Thursday in the game that will count in the Ivy League standings. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. and the Fox Soccer Channel will televise it as part of College Game of the Week package. On Sunday at 2 p.m., the teams will meet in New Haven on Senior Day. That game will be televised on tape delay by CPTV Sports in Connecticut.

The Yale women’s soccer team had a busy Saturday, both on and off the field. In addition to playing a hard-fought 1-1 tie with Columbia, the Bulldogs played host to several New Haven area children.

Bulldogs Back Home To Host Penn Saturday
Home has been pretty sweet for the Yale women’s soccer team so far in 2012. The Bulldogs are 4-1 in the friendly confines of Reese Stadium, outscoring their opponents 15-4. They’ll face a stiff test on Saturday when Penn comes to town for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. The Quakers are 3-1 in Ivy League play and very much in the hunt for the league title.

Showdown At Harvard Saturday
The Yale women’s soccer team certainly doesn’t need much extra motivation for a game against Harvard. But the way the last three games with the Crimson have gone certainly doesn’t sit well with the Bulldogs. Each was a one-goal loss, including last year when Harvard scored the game winning goal on a penalty kick after a controversial hand ball in the box.

The Yale women’s soccer team is coming off two of its most impressive defensive efforts of the season. The Bulldogs shut down a potent Central Connecticut offense in a 1-0 victory last Sunday and allowed Iona only five shots two days earlier in a 2-1 win.

The Yale women’s soccer team had a big offensive week, outscoring its opponents 11-2 en route to three victories. Senior Kristen Forster was a big reason why. She scored three goals, all game-winners, and as a result has been named the Ivy League Player of the Week.

After scoring early in Friday’s game with Iona, the Yale women’s soccer team had a number of opportunities to add to the lead. The Bulldogs, though, couldn’t capitalize, and it looked like it might cost them when Iona’s Sofia Sanchez scored with 3:28 left to force overtime.

It took Yale about 27 minutes to solve Saint Peter’s off-side trap Tuesday night at Reese Stadium. After that, the flood gates opened in a big way. Seven different players scored as the Bulldogs cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Peahens on a cool night at Reese Stadium.

For most of Sunday’s game, the Yale women’s soccer team showed it was more than capable of staying with Northwestern, a top Big Ten program. One stretch, though, midway through the first half doomed the Bulldogs. The Wildcats scored twice in a 3 minute, 41 second stretch to escape with a 2-0 victory.

Late Goal Lifts Stony Brook Past Yale 2-1
If the first two games are any indication, Yale women’s soccer fans are in for a very exciting season. Both games were decided in the final five minutes. In the opener on Friday, the Bulldogs scored in the final minute to knock off Hartford. Sunday, the tables were turned. Stella Norman’s goal with 3:39 left lifted Stony Brook to a 2-1 victory over Yale.

For the first time since 2008, the Yale women’s soccer team will open the season on the road. In fact, the Bulldogs play their first two games away from the friendly confines of Reese Stadium. Yale faces Hartford on Friday at 7 p.m. and then travels to Stony Brook for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Sunday.

2012 Preview: Experienced Bulldogs Optimistic As Opener Approaches
If only a couple of moments had gone differently, 2011 could have been a very memorable season for the Yale women’s soccer team. The Bulldogs lost only twice in Ivy League play, one when Harvard was awarded a questionable penalty kick in overtime and the second when a brief lapse allowed Penn to score twice in a five-minute stretch. Still, Yale won nine games and enjoyed another successful year.

Trip To Chicago Highlights 2012 Schedule
A two-game trip to Chicago highlights the 2012 Yale women’s soccer schedule. The Bulldogs will play at Loyola, Ill., on Sept. 7 before a trip to Big Ten rival Northwestern two days later. In all, Yale has 17 games, including eight in the friendly confines of Reese Stadium.
