Three Bulldogs Earn Preseason All-Ivy Recognition
Gavin, Speck, Forster Honored
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three Yale women's soccer players have been selected to the CollegeSportsMadness.com preseason All-Ivy League team. Melissa Gavin and Meredith Speck were both named to the first team, while Kristen Forster earned second team recognition.
Gavin, a rising sophomore, was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last spring. In addition she earned NSCAA Mid Atlantic region third team recognition and was a first team All-Ivy selection. Her seven assists led the team and were third in the league. She also tied for sixth in the league with six goals and was fifth with 19 points.
Speck, a first team All-Ivy selection last fall as a freshman, was named to the United States Under-23 Women's National Team that travelled to Norway for a Three Nations Tournament earlier this summer. She started all 17 games last year for the Bulldogs, tied for second on team with four assists, was third in points (12) and tied for third in goals (4).
Forster, a rising senior, has started 43 games in her career and shared the Ivy League Rookie of the Year award as a freshman. In her sophomore year, she earned second team All-Ivy recognition, and last fall was fourth on the team with three goals, two of which were game-winners.
The Bulldogs have their first official practice this Friday and then open the regular season on Aug. 31 at Hartford.
