Named Ivy League Players To Watch

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Adele Jackson-Gibson and sophomores Melissa Gavin and Meredith Speck have been named Ivy League Players To Watch by TopDrawerSoccer.

Jackson-Gibson, one of the most athletic goalkeepers in the nation, is back as Yale's starter after seeing her junior season cut short by injury. Her four shutouts last year were second in the league. In addition, she finished fourth in the league in goals against average (0.83) and save percentage (.837) and fifth in saves (41).

Gavin was the 2011 Ivy League Rookie of the Week. She also earned first team All-Ivy recognition and was named to the NSCAA Mid Atlantic Region third. She tied for third in the league with seven assists and was fifth with 19 points.

Speck trained with the United States Under-23 Women's National Team that travelled to Norway for a Three Nations Tournament over the summer. Last fall with the Bulldogs she was a first team All-Ivy selection and was named to the NEWISA All-New England first team.

The Bulldogs open the regular season next Friday at Hartford. Yale has played two exhibition games in the preseason, a 0-0 tie with the University of Montreal and a 2-0 victory over Quinnipiac.
