Posted First Career Shutout In Victory At Cornell
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Goalkeeper Rachel Ames, who posted her first career shutout in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Cornell, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Ames made four saves as the Bulldogs blanked the Big Red in Ithaca, N.Y., for the first time since 2004.
Ames, who has emerged as the starting goalkeeper after Adele Jackson-Gibson suffered a season-ending injury, has a 1.11 goals against average and an .810 save percentage.
She is the second Yale player this year to earn Rookie of the Week honors. Paula Hagopian was selected on Sept. 4.
The Bulldogs (6-6) are back in action on Saturday when they host Penn at 5:30 p.m.
