Children From New Haven Boys & Girls Club Attend Game

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team had a busy Saturday, both on and off the field. In addition to playing a hard-fought 1-1 tie with Columbia, the Bulldogs played host to several New Haven area children.

Last year, Frannie Coxe, with the help of her teammates, founded Say YES to Soccer (Yale Excellence is Sports). Each week, Coxe and other members of the team visited the Boys & Girls Club to coach and assist with the indoor soccer program. On Saturday children from the club attended the game.

In addition, prior to the game, there was an anti-violence, education, career-advice event for teenagers from New Haven and Bridgeport. Head coach Rudy Meredith, some members of the team and other positive role models, including a police officer, a lawyer and a doctor spoke to the teenagers.

Finally, it was Youth Day at Reese Stadium, and the players signed autographs after the game in addition to a number of other events for Yale's young fans.
