    Gavin, Speck Earn First Team All-New England Honors Melissa Gavin and Meredith Speck, the only two players to start 16 games this fall, have each been named to the All-New England first team.

    Speck Elected 2014 Captain Meredith Speck served as a team captain for both her Sacred Heart Academy high school team and Long Island Fury club team prior to coming to Yale. Next fall, that experience will come in handy. Speck, a two-time first team All-Ivy selection, was elected captain of the 2014 Yale women’s soccer team. The announcement was made recently following a team vote.

    Coxe, Battaglia Named Academic All-District Frannie Coxe and Muriel Battaglia each have made key contributions to the Yale women’s soccer team this fall. They’ve also been successful in the classroom. As a result both were named to the Capital One Academic All-District I first team.

For the second straight game, the Bulldogs got the first goal, and in this case the only goal, in a 1-0 victory over Cornell on Saturday night at Reese Stadium.

In 2011, Gavin became just the fourth player in Yale history to be named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year. This past weekend, Gavin scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season to help the Bulldogs to a thrilling overtime victory against defending Ivy champion Princeton. Gavin is the latest Total Mortgage Athlete Spotlight of the Week.
