Bulldogs Fall To 2-1
WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Yale women's soccer team learned first hand that No. 12 Georgetown is a serious threat for a national championship. Mary Kroening and Daphne Corboz each scored twice as the Hoyas cruised to an 8-0 victory over the Bulldogs in the nation's capital.
Yale trailed only 1-0 30 minutes in, but Georgetown scored three times in a nine-minute stretch late in the first half to seize control.
The Hoyas have (7-0) now outscored their opponents 27-3 overall and 17-0 in three games in September.
Corboz was the start of the Game for Georgetown. In addition to the two goals, she added three assists. Her seven points came in just 38 minutes of playing time.
Yale (2-1) was limited to three shots in the game. Two came from sophomore Ana Keusch.
This was only the second meeting between the teams. The Bulldogs blanked the Hoyas 2-0 in the Cape Cod Classic in 2003.
The Bulldogs continue their road trip at Towson on Sunday. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
