Third Straight Ivy Game Away From Home

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – It's another weekend on the road for the Yale women's soccer team. The Bulldogs will be in Ithaca, N.Y., to face Cornell on Saturday. Kickoff at Berman Field is slated for 1 p.m. and ESPN+ has the video.

Here are notes on the game:

The Bulldogs are playing their third straight game away from. They will take one more trip – Delaware State next Wednesday – before returning to the friendly confines of Reese Stadium on Oct. 20 to host Penn.

Yale is coming off a hard-fought 1-0 loss at Dartmouth last Saturday. The Bulldogs created a number of good scoring chances but were unable to capitalize.

Noelle Higginson and Aerial Chavarin share the team lead with three goals apiece. Higginson has a team-best 11 points.

Higginson and Mackenzie Marsh have played all 270 minutes of the first three Ivy games. First year Giana Pittaro has played 260 minutes.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Fagel is third in the Ivy League with 43 saves.

Last year at Reese, Yale had a 28-5 edge in shots but had to settle for a scoreless tie with Cornell. Fagel made two saves to post the shutout.

The last nine meetings between the teams have either been decided by one goal or ended in a tie.

Yale leads the all-time series with the Big Red 19-17-1.

SCOUTING CORNELL

The Big Red (1-9-1) opened Ivy play with a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss at Columbia. Since then Cornell has lost 2-0 decisions to Penn, Harvard and Colgate. Kalli Gregory leads the team with two goals. Dwight Hornibrook is in his second season as the head coach of the Big Red.
