NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Becky Brown, who was selected as the Bulldogs' Offensive Most Valuable Player at the Yale Classic last weekend, has been named to the 15-person SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week.
Brown had two goals, four assists and eight points as the Bulldogs topped Western Carolina 3-1 and Delaware 3-0 in the two games at the Classic. Against Western Carolina, she factored in on all three goals, scoring twice and adding an assist. Her two goals came just 1:07 apart midway through the first half. Against Delaware, she assisted on two of the Bulldogs' three goals, including a nifty back-kick assist that set up the first goal.
In addition, Brown began the week 15th in the nation in assists per game (0.8). She had two assists in Tuesday's 6-0 win over Sacred Heart, which came after the rankings had been compiled. Brown's teammate, Maggie Westfal, began the week fifth in the nation in assists per game (1.0). Westfal didn't have any assists against Sacred Heart but scored three goals.
The Bulldogs play a pair of games at Santa Clara's Tournament this weekend, taking on Stanford on Friday at 5 p.m. PST and Santa Clara on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. PST.
