NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Maggie Westfal, who scored four goals in three games last week, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on Monday. Westfal had her first career hat trick in last Tuesday's 6-0 victory over Sacred Heart and then scored the first goal of the game against sixth-ranked Stanford.
Westfal, a senior from New Canaan, Conn., has started all eight games this season and leads the Ivy League in goals (5) and points (15) and is third in assists (5).
Westfal is the second Yale player honored this season. Goalkeeper Ayana Sumiyasu was selected as the Player of the Week on Sept. 8.
Yale (4-3-1) opens Ivy League play on Saturday, hosting Princeton at 7 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
