Bulldogs Head To Cornell To Complete Road Stretch

Oct. 15, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's soccer team concludes a stretch of three straight Ivy League road games at Cornell on Saturday. A win would give the Bulldogs victories in two of the three games and keep them alive in the race for the Ivy title. Kickoff at Charles F. Berman Field is slated for 4:30 p.m. and fans can follow Live Stats of the game from cornellbigred.com.

The Bulldogs (6-5-1, 1-2 Ivy) are coming off a 2-0 victory over Dartmouth last Saturday, only their second win in Hanover, N.H., in the last 17 years. Yale has had more success in Ithaca, N.Y., winning five of its last six games there.

Miyuki Hino was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Monday after scoring both goals in the win over the Big Green. Becky Brown was selected to the Honor Roll. She tallied her team-leading ninth assist of the season against Dartmouth. Her nine assists are tied for the second most in a season in school history. The Yale record is 11 set by Blanca Fromm in 1997.

Cornell (1-8-1, 0-3 Ivy) has three players - Lena Russomagno, Christina Law and Brook Chang - with two goals. The Big Red has used three goalkeepers. Kelly Murphy (1.88 GAA), Jodi Palmer (2.17) and Megan Bartlett (3.32) have each played in at least four games.

Yale defeated Cornell 5-0 last year at Reese Stadium. Maggie Westfal, Emma Whitfield, Mary Kuder, Natalia Mann and Natalie Romine all scored for the Bulldogs.
