2008 Season Concludes With Trip To Brown
Nov. 5, 2008
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The 2008 Yale women's soccer season comes to an end on Saturday when the Bulldogs travel to Providence to take on Brown. Kickoff at Stevenson Field is slated for 7 p.m. Pay-per-view video is available from brownbears.com.
The Bulldogs (8-6-2) have already clinched their seventh consecutive winning season but there is still much to play for. A victory would allow Yale to finish ahead of Brown in the Ivy League standings. Both teams enter the game with 2-3-1 Ivy marks. In addition, sophomore Becky Brown needs just one assist to tie Blanca Fromm's single-season school record of 11 set in 1997.
Senior Natalia Mann was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday. She scored the game-winning goal in overtime on a penalty kick in a victory over Central Connecticut and also assisted on Yale's goal against Columbia. Mann and fellow seniors Maggie Westfal, Emma Whitfield and Hayley Zevenbergen will be making their final appearance in a Yale uniform.
Brown (6-6-4) may have the two most impressive results of any Ivy team this season. The Bears beat then No. 11 Penn State 1-0 and played a scoreless tie with then No. 1 ranked UCLA. Lindsay Cunningham leads the team in goals (6) and points (14). Brenna Hogue, who made 30 saves combined in the games with Penn State and UCLA, has a 1.26 goals against average.
