Becky Brown Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week

Nov. 12, 2007

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Becky Brown, who made a successful return to New Jersey in Yale's 3-1 victory over Princeton on Sunday, was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the second time on Monday. Playing in front of numerous family and friends, Brown, a Lawrenceville, N.J., native, scored and added an assist as the Bulldogs kept their hopes alive for an at-large bid to the NCAA College Cup.

Brown set up Yale's first goal when she sent a pass to Maggie Westfal, who blasted a shot from 30 yards out that sailed over the head of Princeton goalkeeper Maren Dale. Brown then capped the scoring early in the second half when she fired a shot inside the right post from 20 yards.

Brown has started all 17 games and is second on the team in scoring with 17 points (7 goals, 3 assists). Four of her goals have been game-winners and three have come in Ivy League games.

Brown also earned the honor on Oct. 29 after she scored the game-winning goal in Yale's victory over Columbia.

The Bulldogs (11-6, 5-2 Ivy) will learn if they have received an at-large bid to the NCAA College Cup when the pairings are announced on Monday night at approximately 8 p.m. on ESPNews.
