Kuretich Named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week
Tossed 12 Innings Without Allowing An Earned Run
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Kayla Kuretich, who flirted with a no-hitter last Wednesday against Marist, has been named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week. In two appearances last week, Kuretich pitched 12 innings without allowing an earned run and struck out 10.
Kuretich’s no-hit bid against Marist was broken up when Danielle Koltz rolled a ground ball single through the left side of the infield with one out in the seventh inning. She finished with a one-hitter and six strikeouts. Against Army, she tossed five innings of relief and did not allow an earned run.
Kuretich, who hasn’t yielded an earned run in her last 17 innings, leads the Yale staff in ERA (1.83), strikeouts (40) and innings pitched (38.1).
The Bulldogs will be back in action on Wednesday when they play a doubleheader at Fairfield beginning at 2:30 p.m.
