Trio Honored For Work In Classroom And On Field

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three Yale softball players – catcher McKynlee Westman, outfielder Allie Canulli and pitcher Holly Gutterud – have been honored for their work in the classroom. The trio was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I second team.

Westman, a molecular, cellular and developmental biology major, started 21 games behind the plate and had career highs in hits and doubles. Her .321 average in Ivy League games was third on the team.

Canulli, an ethics, politics and economics major, started 32 games, led the Bulldogs with 17 RBI and was second with a .320 batting average.

Gutterud, a psychology major, appeared in a team-high 23 games in the circle. Her 3.52 earned run average led the team, and she was second in wins and strikeouts.

Yale has had at least one player earn academic all-district honors in 12 of the last 14 years.
