Dunham Earns Ivy League Rookie of Week Honors

Recognized For Second Time This Season

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Chelsey Dunham, who was the winning pitcher in four of Yale's six victories last week, has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week. Dunham, a Fairfax Station, Va., native, tossed 30 innings, struck out 20 and allowed only nine earned runs in five appearances.

She was particularly dominant in Yale's doubleheader sweep of Columbia on Sunday. In the first game, she tossed a three-hit shutout and then entered the second game in relief in the fifth inning with the score tied at 7-7, the bases loaded and no outs. She promptly retired the next three hitters and tossed two more perfect innings as the Bulldogs eventually pulled away for a 12-7 win to complete the sweep.

In two of her wins, Dunham had to work a little extra. In a 2-1 victory over Penn, she went nine innings, allowed only three hits and struck out three, and in a 4-3 win over Rhode Island, she pitched eight innings, struck out eight and scattered five hits.

This is the second time Dunham has been honored this season. She also won the award on Mar. 15.
