Five Players Earn 2011 NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete Honors
Leung, Warkentine, Ong, Yanagisawa, Waldrop Recognized For Classroom Success
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Five Yale softball players – Kristen Leung, Kelsey Warkentine, Jennifer Ong, Katie Yanagisawa and Virginia Waldrop – were named as 2011 National Fastball Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athletes.
The award is given to any player who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2010-11 academic year. The award is the second component of the Association's academic award program. Last week, the teams with the highest GPAs in each membership category were recognized as a 2011 NFCA All-Academic Team. The Bulldogs had a team grade point average of 3.404, the 15th best in all of Division I softball.
